News from the Club: February 2025
“Kingspoint is more than a collection of homes. It is a community and has been since it was built. We are a fabulous motley crew of Veterinarians, Therapists, Professors, Soldiers, Sailors, and Spies. We go to public and private schools. We are retirees and those just having our first kids. This is where civil society takes place – common spaces. We desperately need to preserve these spaces” Mary Le Gouellec, Kingspoint Resident
Letter from the KP Presidents
Dear Kingspoint Club Members,
Happy February! We would like to extend a huge thank you to everyone who attended this year’s KP Club Annual Stockholder Meeting to discuss Club business and engage in meaningful conversations. We had a great turnout (especially given the evening’s falling snow), and we appreciated all the great questions and feedback. We discussed new plans for Communications and Social Events, and had a great discussion about new plans for increasing Memberships.
The Kingspoint Club Board will be holding their first meeting of the year on February 17, 2025, where we will use the comments and suggestions provided at the meeting to guide our discussions and shape our agenda. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or would like to share your ideas (kppresidents@gmail.com).
The New Board of Directors for 2025:
Scott Lerberg, co-President
Kim Lavach, co-President
Catherine Mountjoy, Treasurer
Matt Blinn, Secretary
Melissa Reeves, Facilities
Kathryn Haines, Membership
Tara Peters, Clubhouse
A warm thank you to everyone who has volunteered to serve on the 2025 Board! We would like to extend a huge round of applause and great appreciation to Dave Stanhope who is stepping off the Board after 8 years (yes, you read that correctly) of invaluable volunteer support as Facilities Chair. Don’t worry though, we still have managed to keep Dave as part of our incredible Facilities Team for 2025! We are also thankful to Kathy Williams for all her hard work as our Social Chair in 2024 and for helping us explore a new way to approach our social events in 2025. Speaking of……
New Process for 2025 Social Events:
We are excited to announce a new process for organizing social events at the Kingspoint Club in 2025. We are inviting each of you to take the lead and bring your Social Event ideas to life!
Here’s What’s Changing:
Instead of a dedicated social committee, we’re giving every club member the opportunity to step into the role of event planner.
Whether you’ve always dreamed of designing the perfect party or you prefer a simple and straightforward approach, this is your chance to shine!
What Does It Mean to Be an Event Planner?
You’ll create the theme and vision for the event.
You’ll write 2-3 emails to club members to share the details of your event.
You’ll be on-site as the party planner on the day of the event
You’ll enjoy the gratitude and appreciation of fellow club members for making the event possible!
Things to Know:
Decorations, games, and extra touches are entirely optional.
Keeping your event simple is perfectly fine!
Helpers will be available.
A SignUpGenius form will make coordinating easy.
You’ll receive a detailed planning guide about a month before your event.
The planning guide will help you every step of the way.
Ready to make an event your own? Follow these rules to keep your event simple!
Events should be free and open to all club members.
Events can be BYOB or alcohol free at the planner's discretion.
There should be no charge to attend these events.
Members should expect to bring food to share and their own adult beverages.
We’re excited to see the creativity our members will bring to these events. If this new process doesn’t work out, we will consider returning to a social committee in 2026. Some new events being proposed for 2025 include an Easter Egg Hunt, Adult Tiki Party, Oktoberfest, and a possible return of Docktails (or “Decktails”).
Thank you to everyone for your support in making Kingspoint Club a wonderful place to gather, celebrate, and connect in 2025!

Meet at the boat racks and then head out onto the water as a group.
Bring your sunscreen, life jackets, snacks, and cameras.
Take photos while you are out having fun.
Connect with other Club members.
Hang Out on the DECK of the Clubhouse during and after Clubbing the Creek.
All Club members are welcome, boaters and non-boaters alike!
Enjoy the beautiful views and each other's company.
BYOB and a non-perishable snack to share (if you desire.)
Savor the most beautiful views at the Club.
Mark your calendars and join us all summer!
Non-Boaters are welcome to join us on the deck to take-in the breath-taking views throughout our Clubbing the Creek. If you do join us on the deck, please be courteous and tidy up after yourselves. We encourage all members to enjoy the Club's most beautiful views, but to leave no trash behind!

Membership Committee Support:
We are actively seeking members to assist Kathryn Haines on the Kingspoint Club Membership Committee. The Membership Committee will welcome new neighbors and invite them to join the Club. Committee members will also reach out to current non-Club neighbors to discuss and encourage membership. We need YOUR help to get the word out that new residents and lapsed members can join/rejoin for a $500 buy-in fee, plus the 2025 dues payment ($800). Please spread the word and encourage them to reach out to visit our website, (https://www.kingspointclub.org/) and reach out to Kathryn Haines for more info: (membershipkingspoint@gmail.com). If your neighbor joins because of your assistance, you will receive a $10 gift card to Aromas as a THANK YOU from us!
Upcoming Kingspoint Club Volunteer Needs:
Volunteering your time is so important for the health of the KP Club (It is honestly as important as paying your dues!), and we are so appreciative of those who step up to fill these very important roles. We are searching for volunteers in the following areas for 2025. Please try to help in at least one area, and please do not assume all this work is being or will be done by other members. If anyone would like to learn more about these extremely important positions, please reach out to the Kingspoint Board through kppresidents@gmail.com.
Swim Team Leadership:
The KP Club is seeking volunteer support for the 2025 Kingspoint Dolphins Swim Season. We would like to secure from our resident families at least one Swim Team President and a Volunteer Coordinator. We give these volunteers the Board’s assurances that they will receive support from our amazing 2024 leadership team. Please consider volunteering to fill these very important roles. The swim team positively impacts the Club, the neighborhood, and KP families socially, physically and financially.
News from the Club Publisher:
The Kingspoint Club is seeking a volunteer to edit, format, and publish the monthly neighborhood newsletter. The general responsibilities of this important position include the following:
Managing the newsletter publication schedule and soliciting content from contributors.
Publishing newsletters on the website and sending email notifications to subscribers to let them know there's a new issue.
Helping the Club treasurer correspond with advertisers.
Advising Club leadership on communications strategies.
Note: As we search for a volunteer to lead the newsletter in 2025, we are making necessary adjustments to reach the News from the Club distribution list through our website and our Club emails. We plan to include additional information (such as KP social groups and neighborhood/external advertisements) on the Kingspoint Club website.
Advertisers:
The KP Club is actively seeking Club members, neighbors, and local businesses who are interested in advertising on the Club’s website, and on all other official Club emails (below the signature). We want to support your business as you support the Club. Please spread the word to anyone who you think might be interested in advertising with us. Please reach out for more information (kppresidents@gmail.com).
Boat Rack Update:
The Kingspoint Club offers boat storage at the College Creek Boat Landing for Kingspoint Club Resident Members only. Storage rack can accommodate canoes, kayaks, or paddle boards. Since the demand for these spots is high, we conduct a lottery each year to assign slots. We have rented 23 of the 26 spots for 2025. The cost for boat storage is $100 per year. We still have a few spots left. Considering a spot this year? Please complete the Boat Lottery Form.
Clubhouse News:
The KP clubhouse is always open for business! Need to host a meeting? A birthday? A baby shower? A graduation? A retirement? A book club? A work function? We want to host your next event! It takes money and labor to maintain our lovely clubhouse so rental money is greatly needed and appreciated. Spread the word, our beautiful facility is available for rent and has the best rates in town. Please contact Tara Peters (kpclubrentals@gmail.com) for
more information or if you would like to rent the Clubhouse.
Rates for Renting the Clubhouse in 2025:
KP Resident Club Member: 1 $50 half day rental /year
KP Resident Club Member: $150 half day (4 hrs.)

Capital Campaign for the Dock:
A huge THANK YOU to generous Club Members who recently made donations or assurances of future donations dedicated toward the rebuilding of the Kingspoint Dock! A Joint Permit Application for rebuilding the Kingspoint Dock was submitted to VMRC and the JCC Wetlands Board and a draft site plan has been submitted to the JCC Zoning Office. As we work with the appropriate state and local officials, we hope to start work on the new dock in the spring of 2025.
If you would also like to make a gift to the Capital Campaign for the Dock, we welcome all donations, large and small. Gifts may be dropped off to the Treasurer, Catherine Mountjoy at 140 Kingspoint Drive. Please call or text 804-814-7600 so she knows to look for your gift. Gifts can also be mailed to the following address: Kingspoint Club, P.O. Box 365, Williamsburg, VA 23187. Questions: Contact Catherine at (kpwilliamsburg@gmail.com).
2025 Member Dues:
Please remember, the Club is asking all members to pay in full by February 28th.
Invoices have been sent to the email address we have on file and can be paid by cash, check (mail to Kingspoint Club, Inc., PO Box 365, Williamsburg, VA, 23187), or credit card.
If you would like to use a credit card to pay the full annual fee, you can use this link (https://www.kingspointclub.org/pay-resident-dues). There is an additional fee of $25 (the approximate cost the Club incurs on credit card transactions).
For those who cannot make this one-time payment by February 28th, please email our treasurer at kpwilliamsburg@gmail.com.
The Treasurer can set up recurring payment plans (quarterly or monthly) that will automatically charge your credit card (for only a one-year period).
We have instituted a fee of $10 per transaction if paying quarterly and a fee of $5 per transaction if paying monthly.
Those on a payment plan will pay $210 quarterly or $72 monthly.
If you prefer to pay by check, we encourage you to use autopay at your bank to avoid missing a payment.
Note: At this time, the Club will not have the option to pay quarterly or monthly through the Kingspoing Club website.
Looking Ahead: Hoping to jump into 2025 with 110% energy, the Club needs YOU!!
We need ALL our members to support our committees and to help “champion” our many awesome projects. We know just how talented and skilled you are! Please donate your time and expertise to the Club in 2025.
Please consider volunteering this year!
Help us generate fundraiser ideas for much needed repairs.
Help us to increase membership.
Join us as we work on the Dock.
Guide us as we complete updates to the By-Laws.
Guide us as we explore the idea of optional Deeded Club Memberships.
Have a strength or skill to share that we haven’t mentioned? Reach out and let us know how you can help. We will gratefully accept your offer of assistance and thank each of you in advance for your willingness to share your skills and services with the Club and our many important endeavors.
Thank you in advance for all of your help in 2025. It’s a great time to be a member of the Kingspoint Club!
